Hypnosis
What is hypnosis?
Deep relaxation and complete calmness with full awareness
Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation and complete peace of mind, with enhanced focus. Like meditating with deep concentration; or praying with focus and reverence. As if we are in a trans state, between sleep and wakefulness. With my guidance, the conscious mind “empties” and sets itself aside, it stops being the guide. It hands the steering wheel over to the subconscious mind; to lead us where we need to go, depending on the subject at hand.
It usually involves regression into the past, mostly in our younger years where something happened that left its mark. As a result, this imprint of the past somehow affects us today.
Using hypnosis, we can recall past experiences as it is possible to retrieve events that have been buried deep down in the “cupboard” of our memory; to then process, understand and view them using a different lens. It is the ‘aha moment’ which brings about changes in beliefs, perceptions, thoughts, feelings, memories, behaviors, and sensations. Positive and healthy changes. Gently held and guided by me throughout the session.
There exist many misconceptions and myths about hypnosis.
Can someone make me do something I don’t want to do? Will I remember what happened when I get out of hypnosis? What if I don’t wake up?
So, what is the truth?
- No one can be forced to say or do anything they do not want to; you have complete control throughout the session.
- Hypnosis is not sleep. Throughout the duration of the hypnosis session, there is full awareness, increased consciousness, and continuous perception of what is happening. After all, the session is interactive.
- No one remains in hypnosis forever, the mind regains full consciousness even without the therapist’s guidance.
- Through hypnosis you can only change the thoughts that your subconscious wants to change.
- Changing or getting rid of thoughts, beliefs or fears is much easier achieved through hypnosis. Scientific studies have shown that, when in hypnosis, the mind becomes more receptive to changes. When not in hypnosis, it is more resistant.
